1.000.000.000 SILHOUETTES PROJECT
We are a group of Tangram fans which associate in kromasoft, a nonprofit association for circulating such a puzzle. We strongly believe in the positive aura which underlies Tangram and similar dissection puzzles. They push mind and leave imagination running. We developped a software to random generate properly matched silhouettes, Tanzzle v.1.1. It is an endless source of new challenging and visual impressive silhouettes. The number of configuration which can be generated is so high that, at an high confidence level, the pattern chosen by someone in a Tanzzle session will never be seen again by him, and even by nobody else. Full many a flow'r is born to blush unseen told Thomas Gray, but it's an human feature to discover, to describe, to collect and to share. That is the starting idea in our project. The target is to create a large database of beautiful, challeging or just curious silhouettes. The tzl files used by Tanzzle software can be the standard format for storing the appropriate information on the patterns. They need less than 100 bytes for typical silhouettes. Therefore as few as 100 Gb could store one billion of patterns! A well organized database would allow to search them all, using various criteria, e.g. geometrical, challenging rank, resemblance to something, author.
You can help in our project:
Download the FREEWARE Tanzzle v.1.1 and start to create your own silhouettes. Send us the worthy patterns you discovered, with some description (accepted only english and italian, at the moment) to help in the cataloging; Circulate this project: tell a friend; Add a link to us in your URL; Add the project signature to your e-mails. We are currently organizing the database and an easy uploading procedure of the tzl files from you. At the moment, the files can be shared using the guestbook or via e-mail by using the 'send to 1,000,000,0000 project' button in the new Tanzzle v.1.1.
