	about0="CHE COS'E' TANZZLE: Tangram e dintorni"


	about1="Il nome deriva dal ben noto gioco del tangram . Il tangram è un rompicapo cinese ottenuto dividendo un quadrato di un qualche materiale sottile in sette parti: cinque triangoli, un quadrato ed un parallelogramma. I pezzi del tangram sono chiamati tan e possono essere disposti su un piano in un numero praticamente infinito di configurazioni. Sono note molte varianti al tangram, ottenute con pezzi di altre forme. Più di 30 versioni differenti furono sviluppate in Germania da Ritcher & Co, verso la fine del 19° secolo. Il tangram e gli altri rompicapo erano fatti di pietra e chiamati 'The Anchor Puzzles'. In verità, nel caso dei rompicapo diversi dal tangram, è difficile trovare libri o altre fonti di silhouette da risolvere. Tale limitazione è stata rimossa col nostro programma Tanzzle, che è praticamente una fonte inesauribile di silhouette ottenute con i pezzi del tangram o di altri insiemi. Per il momento noi proponiamo quattro insiemi: Tangram, Trapeze, Pythagoras e Number 5.<br>Si può trovare una discussione dettagliata sul tangram e altre dissezioni nel capitolo 1 di <a href='http://www.johnrausch.com/PuzzlingWorld/chap01b.htm'>'The Puzzling World of Polyhedral Dissections'</a> di Stewart T. 	about2="Silhouette"


	about3="Esistono molti libri con centinaia di immagini ottenute con i pezzi del tangram. le figure sono stampate in modo da non poter individuare i bordi di pezzi accostati. Il gioco consiste proprio nel capire come le silhouette sono realizzate utilizzando tutti e sette i pezzi, non sovrapponendoli. Le silhouettes spesso assomigliano ad animali, esseri umani, oggetti, ed altro. La tradizione del tangram è spesso concentrata su tali somiglianze, cioè c'è una speci di gioco nel gioco nel considerare silhouette che rappresentano qualcosa o qualcuno. Per il giocatore una configurazione è interessante se è difficle da risolvere. Ma l'aspetto visivo è ugualmente importante. Divertitevi con entrambi gli aspetti con Tanzzle."


	about4="<a name='conves'></a>Figure convesse"


	about5="Le configurazioni difficili da risolvere hanno il minor numero possibile di pezzi isolati. Da questo punto di vista, le figure convesse sono le più interessanti, anche se ben note. Una figura si dice convessa quando ogni punto, su una linea che unisce due punti qualsiasi della figura, giace all'interno della figura stessa. Si possono realizzare col tangram esattamente 13 figure convesse, come dimostrato rigorosamente da F. T. Wang e C. C. Hsung nello 'American Mathematical Monthly', volume 19, 1942. "


	about6="Configurazioni accostate"


	about7="E' facile individuare pezzi isolati (e.g. la coda del gatto nella figura sopra). Di regola, configurazioni difficili da risolvere sono costruite col maggior numero possibile di vertici e lati accostati, come nelle figure convesse. Il programma Tanzzle può trattare sia configurazioni accostate che con pezzi isolati. Tutte le silhouette possono essere descritte in questo modo. Le configurazioni che non possono essere esattamente rappresentate come tali, possono tuttavia essere leggermente modificate, mantenendo praticamente la stessa silhoutte e somiglianza (fate click sull'immagine seguente e confrontatela con quella riportata sopra. E' necessario installare il freeware <a href='TZLviewer.html'>TZLviewer</a>)."


	about8="I pezzi"


	about9="I pezzi del gioco sono forme geometriche che possono essere disposte su un piano. Il programma Tanzzle per il momento gestisce quattro insiemi: Tangram, Trapeze, Phytagoras, and Number 5.<br>I pezzi del tangram fatti di legno o plastica possono essere acquistati in negozi di giocattoli o di regali. Potete realizzare tutti e quattro gli insiemi da soli stampando e ritagliando le figure vicino al titolo (fare click per ingrandire). NON MESCOLATE i pezzi di insiemi differenti."


	about10="<big><a href='general_files/tangram.JPG' target='_blank'>Il Tangram</a></big> è nato in Cina nei secoli scorsi, ma le prime fonti scritte risalgono al 18° secolo. Il nome Tangram non ha un'origine pienamente riconosciuta. Qualcuno riconduce il nome a Tang, una parola cantonese per 'Cinese', e Gram, per 'disegnato'. I Cinesi chimano il Tangram 'Tavola della saggezza' (Cinese: <span style='font-size: 12pt; font-family: SimSun;'>&#19971;&#24039;&#26495;</span> Hanyu Pinyin: qi qiao ban; alla lettera 'sette pietre della saggezza'). Nell immagine seguente abbiamo mostrato un esempio di silhouette vista col TZLviewer (in basso a destra). Il file tzl visto con Notepad (in alto) appare come una sequenza di numeri. Ogni gruppo di numeri fornisce la descrizione di come due pezzi sono connessi tra loro. Ad esempio, la prima sequenza (133413100) connette il quadrato (pezzo 1) con il triangolo medio (pezzo 4) accostando i vertici 3 ed 1 del quadrato e del triangolo, rispettivamente, ed accostando i lati  3 e e 3 del quadrato e del triangolo, rispettivamente, come indicato.<br>E' disponibile il <a href='TZLreader.html'>codice sorgente in VB6</a> per poter leggere un file tzl ed ottenere le coordinate dei vertici dei pezzi."

The tangram pieces are named tans and can be arranged on a plane in a virtually infinite number of configurations. Indeed, many variants of the tangram game have been and can be developed, using tans of other shapes. More than 30 new designs of sets were made in Germany by Ritcher & Co, toward the end of 19th century. Tangram and the other dissection puzzles were made from stone and named 'The Anchor Puzzles'. Indeed, in the case of Tangram-like puzzles, it is hard to find books or other sources for the silhouettes to be guessed. Such a limitation have been removed with Tanzzle, which is an almost endless source  of silhouettes built from either Tangram or other sets of tans. 	about3="There exist many books containing hundreds of patterns obtained by arranging the Tangram pieces. The figures are printed in such a way you cannot detect the borders of matched pieces. The puzzle just consists in realizing how those silhouettes can be get using all the seven not-overlapping pieces. The silhouettes often look like animals, humans, objects, and others. Tangram tradition is focused onto pattern recognition, that is to say there is a sort of game in the game to consider silhouettes who represent something or someone. Patterns are mainly of interest to a Tangram player as far as he is challenged to solve them. But the visual effect is important, as well. Enjoy both with Tanzzle."

	about5="A hard-to-solve pattern has as few dangling pieces as possible. From this point of view, the convex figures should be the best, but well known. A figure is called convex when every point on a line joining any two points of the figure lies within the figure itself. There exist exactly 13 convex figure, which can be obtained with the Tangram pieces. This was rigorously demonstrated by F. T. Wang and C. C. Hsung in the 'American Mathematical Monthly', volume 19, 1942. "

	about7="It's easy to identify dangling pieces (e.g. the tail of the cat above). As a rule of thumb, hard-to-solve patterns are built by matching as much edges and vertices of the pieces as possibile, as in the convex figures. Tanzzle software deals with both matched patterns and dangling pieces. All the silhouettes can be described in this way. The patterns which cannot be described as done, can be slightly modified, still mantaining almost the same silhouette and resemblance (click on the following picture and compare with the above one.
